Janet takes time necessary to assess your condition with her considerable expertise and experience. Hands on treatment (mobilisation, manipulation and/or soft tissue mobilisation) is most often followed up with rehabilitation which includes stretching, mobilising and strengthening the parts of the body that have contributed to the pain or dysfunction. Janet will devise a bespoke exercise program using 'Physiotech' software which assists you in keeping up with your rehabilitation! Janet may also use strapping tape, or kinesio tape to support injured joints or muscles; or recommend specific braces, orthotics or footwear.
Janet uses her growing knowledge of human biomechanics to assess the movement patterns of the whole body, especially with regards to gait, walking or running! Whether playing bowls or rugby, most sports require efficient gait for performance and injury prevention.
Janet is equally passionate about providing the upper body with a strong base of support, for example, strengthening the trunk and scapular mechanics in swimmers or tennis players. Even those folks stuck at the laptop for large portions of their day, need stamina to maintain correct head on neck and upper limb postures. Hence, any treatment for neck or upper limb pain would include stretching and strengthening exercises to both treat the pain and prevent recurrence.
